Bring on the revival of the Dark Romantic Goth

A couple of months ago Savage Garden got a new cage dancer. This lovely creature always dressed wonderfully, she literally had a new corset on every time I saw her. The more we talked I found out that she specializes in making Baroque clothing. In fact, one night she dawned a glorious French inspired period dress with the proper under skirting and a powdered wig to top it off. So, I made it a point to find more of us that love to dress in period clothing.

My husband, Spyder, met a man who creates authentic 18th Century clothing. He has educated himself in everything to do with that time period. Oh, the conversations that we have with him. His dress and mannerisms take you back to a time long forgotten.

Recently while at the Vatikan nightclub I met a girl from Guelph who was a true Victorian lady. She wore a beautiful bustle skirt and corset. Items that I would just die to have. I do hope that she visits our fair city more often.

Most of the members from A Gothic Society are inspired by a particular period. Victorian, Medieval, traditional military uniform, oriental, each person makes these styles their own.
Medieval weddings are more popular than ever right now.

Stores like Penningtons, Le Chateau and Guess are creating more lace, angel wing blouses, lace up pants, long coats and antique looking accessories.

Home fashions are returning to lush fabrics, dark colours and stained wood with the new 'Bogart' collection put out this summer.

So many wonderful things for us to buy and create. Trust me my Darklings, drink this all up and get what you can. This only happens every couple of years. Or, keep our bones crossed, that it is here to stay.
